Overcoming the harsh deep-sea environment, domestically produced high-performance 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipes have obtained DNV certification

With the development of deep-sea oil and gas resources in China moving towards wider waters, unprecedented challenges have been posed to the corrosion resistance of submarine pipelines. Recently, a top domestic steel pipe manufacturing enterprise and research institution jointly developed the "Deep Sea Enhanced 3PE Anti Corrosion System"and successfully obtained the authoritative certification certificate issued by the Norwegian Classification Society (DNV). This marks that the technology has been recognized by international mainstream marine engineering standards, providing a solid material guarantee for China's independent development of deep-sea oil and gas fields.
Compared with traditional onshore pipelines, deep-sea pipelines need to withstand extremely high static water pressure, low temperature, ocean current impact, and complex seabed geological environment, making them prone to mechanical damage to the anti-corrosion layer and cathodic protection shielding failure. The enhanced 3PE system certified this time has greatly improved its resistance to creep and impact toughness caused by deep-sea pressure by optimizing the modified polyethylene layer formula; At the same time, the intermediate adhesive layer has been improved to ensure that the bonding strength with the steel pipe matrix and outer polyethylene does not weaken under long-term high-pressure and low-temperature environments.
The successful application of this technology will directly serve deepwater oil and gas field projects in the South China Sea, East China Sea and other sea areas, such as the follow-up energy development projects of "Deep Sea One". It not only extends the design life of submarine pipelines, reduces maintenance risks and costs throughout the entire lifecycle, but also signifies an important leap from "following" to "running in parallel" and even "leading" in the field of high-end marine engineering materials in China. It has profound significance for ensuring national energy security and realizing the strategy of building a maritime power.
